Performance evaluation of a joint CDMA/NC-PRMA protocol for wireless multimedia communications

چکیده
A joint code division multiple access and noncollision packet reservation multiple access (CDMA/NC-PRMA) technique is proposed and investigated as an uplink protocol for the third-generation (3G) mobile systems. Being the underlying time division multiple access (TDMA) architecture of the CDMA transmissions, NC-PRMA enables the base station (BS) to have a centralized control over the slot allocation policy. In order to reduce the multiple access interference (MAI) variation in a CDMA transmission, two different slot assignment schemes, referred to as load-balancing (LB) and power-grouping (PG) schemes, are proposed and evaluated. Simulation results show that considerable improvement can be achieved over the joint CDMA/PRMA scheme, in which the MAI variation is reduced by way of a dynamic permission probability for contending terminals. Especially when an imperfect power control mechanism is considered, the proposed PG assignment scheme achieves significant performance advantages.

Performance simulation of wireless multimedia systems using NC-PRMA/DA and SNC-PRMA/DA protocols
A noncollision packet reservation multiple access with dynamic allocation (NC-PRMA/DA) scheme is proposed and investigated as a suitable candidate protocol for wireless multimedia communications. Access requests of the existing users in NC-PRMA/DA are conveyed to the base station (BS) in a noncollision manner by using a time-frequency signaling scheme. In addition, the Scheduling NC-PRMA/DA (SN...
متن کاملPerformance of CDMA/PRMA as an Access Technique for Integrated Services in a UMTS High Altitude Platform System
High Altitude platforms (HAPs) have gained a great interest in recent years. HAP systems will be globally in nature but nationally in service provision. They will deliver IMT-2000 mobile and fixed wireless access using the proposed IMT2000 terrestrial component radio transmission technologies and protocols. Under the above considerations, in this paper the performance of a MAC protocol based on...
متن کاملA CDMA/PRMA Protocol for LEO Constellations
In this paper the design of a multiservice MAC (Medium Access Control) protocol, as a candidate for the uplink communication channel for LEO constellations is proposed. The proposed scheme is just the combination of conventional PRMA protocol and CDMA techniques, which seems to be a very promising access method for the case of mixed voice/data traffic. A transmit permission technique based on D...

To enable multimedia real-time applications over next-generation wireless code-division multiple access (CDMA) packet-switching networks, previous efforts show a proper scheduling policy is the key to provide delay-guaranteed access services to various traffic types with different bit error rate (BER) requirements. Considering the support of the prevailing Internet protocol (IP) with variable-l...

Computer networks can be built using either wired or wireless technology. Although wired network has been the traditional choice, wireless technologies are becoming more popular. One of the most challenges is to have an existing wired network to which a wireless network extension could be added. Specifically the challenge is to connect a group of wireless networks through a wired backbone. The ...
